Fertilizer will be distributed according to a new method from next year

The Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage states that farmers will be provided with fertilizer for cultivations from the Yala season according to the soil composition after conducting a complete soil test in the provinces.

The Minister further stated that by doing so it will be possible to restrict the importation of chemical fertilizers in an unwanted manner.

He stated this at a discussion on how the money allocated to the Ministry of Agriculture in the Budget for the year 2022 will be spent.

The Minister further stated that the equipment required for soil testing has been provided to 362 Agrarian Development Regional Centers and another 200 centers will be provided with soil testing equipment within the next year.

The Minister said that the soil composition of each area of ​​the country could be ascertained by testing the soil so that the type and amount of fertilizer required for the soil in each area could be determined.
