The Ja-Ela Bridge on Colombo-Negombo main Road will be widened and developed

Johnston Fernando, Minister of Highways today (02) inaugurated the widening and development of the Ja-Ela Bridge on the Colombo-Negombo Road in line with the development of the Ja-Ela town in the Gampaha District.

Nimal Lansa, State Minister for Rural Roads and Other Infrastructure, Nalin Fernando, Member of Parliament and many other political and government officials in the area were present at the occasion.

A sum of Rs. 214 million has been allocated for the widening of the bridge and the Road Development Authority will oversee the construction of the bridge.

The existing bridge will be 6 meters wide on one side and 12 meters wide on both sides. Accordingly, the existing bridge will be widened to 26 meters. This will ease the traffic congestion.
