The Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage has instructed to submit a detailed report on the number of seeds produced locally, their variety and the quality of the seeds within the next three months.
The Minister said during the National Seed Council Committee meeting that action should be taken to regulate the prices of all seeds produced and imported locally, after receiving this report.
He also stated that traders who sell imported seeds, sell 50 grams of certain seeds to farmers at a high price of Rs. 5,000 or Rs. 6,000.
