Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa requested in Parliament yesterday to probe reasons for the explosions caused by leaks from domestic gas cylinders.
Raising a question under Standing Order 27(2), he said this had become a serious issue.
He said the government had failed to provide a sensible answer in this regard.
Mr. Premadasa said there are as many as six million domestic gas users.
He charged the origin of the low quality 18 kilo gas cylinders with the alteration of the composition of Propane and Butane in them from the 70-30 ratio to the 50-50 ratio.
