Report on composition of gas will be received today

Lasantha Alagiyawanna, State Minister of Consumer Protection says that the report of the investigation into the composition of gas cylinders will be received today.

The government has also decided to call for a recommendations report from the University of Moratuwa regarding the gas cylinder explosions.

Minister of State Lasantha Alagiyawanna stated that the report will be obtained after considering the samples sent to the Sri Lanka Standards Institution and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.

He pointed out that this was a national issue and that it was not a matter of postponing or passing the ball and that it was his responsibility to take steps to protect the consumer and that he would do his part.

Twenty single samples were taken islandwide to determine the cause of the gas cylinder explosion.

So far, nearly eight gas explosions have been reported.
