A young woman who was receiving treatment for injuries sustained in an explosion and fire caused by a gas leak in the kitchen of a house in Welikanda Sandunpitiya has died last evening (25).
The accident took place on the 13th.
The deceased has been identified as Ayesha Kumuduni, (age 19), Welikanda Police stated.
She was admitted to the Welikanda Hospital with serious injuries and later transferred to the Colombo National Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries, police said.
Police said investigations revealed that a gas leak was the cause of the accident.
