The Board of Engineers of the Electricity Board (CEB) has launched a continuous trade union action from this afternoon.

The President of the CEB Engineering Association Saumya Kumarawadu stated that the action was taken to protest against the transfer of ownership of the Kerawalapitiya Yugadanavi Power Plant to an American company and to seek solutions to the administrative weaknesses of the Ceylon Electricity Board.

Mr. Kumarawadu also said that the trade union action will continue until an island-wide strike develops.

Saumya Kumarawadu said that the transfer of the LNG plant stake to an American company gives the LNG supply monopoly in Sri Lanka to the American company and that it is a corrupt and non-tender transaction.

Accordingly, the electrical engineers will continue their strike until the power plant agreement is understood, he said.
