State Minister of Fisheries Kanchana Wijesekera says that the Cabinet has approved to remove the Ampara Oluvil Port from the control of the Ports Authority and hand it over to the Ministry of Fisheries.
Accordingly, the government has decided to renovate the Oluvil Port as a port with modern facilities, he said.
The Minister of State stated that although the renovation work of this port was completed in 2014, it had been stopped recently.
