54th D. A. Rajapaksa Commemoration was held under the patronage of President and Prime Minister

The 54th Commemoration Ceremony of the late D. A. Rajapaksa was held under the patronage of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Mahawela Road, Tangalle this morning (07).

Students of Puwakdandawa Girls’ College sang the D. A. Rajapaksa Commemoration Song followed by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, First Lady Shiranthi Wickramasinghe Rajapaksa, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Ministers Namal Rajapaksa, SM Chandrasena and Ministers of State. Chanaka, Janaka Wakkumbura, Thenuka Vidanagamage, Governor of the Southern Province Willie Gamage and others first paid floral tributes to the statue of D. A. Rajapaksa.

Former Member of the Southern Provincial Council Kapila Dissanayake, Chief Deputy Secretary Upul Dissanayake and Chairman of the Southern Provincial Council Somawansa Kodagoda laid wreaths at the statue of D. A. Rajapaksa on behalf of the D. A. Rajapaksa Memorial Committee.

Many theros were also present and engaged in religious activities.

Meanwhile, the President, the Prime Minister, Minister Basil Rajapaksa and their wives lit lamps yesterday (06) to pay their respects to the memorial of Mr. D. A. Rajapaksa and his wife Dona Dandina Samarasinghe Dissanayake at Weeraketiya Medamulana.
