Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that about 70 percent of the country’s population has been vaccinated against Covid.

Sri Lanka, which is in a higher position in terms of vaccination in the world, has so far vaccinated nearly 60 percent of the youth population between the ages of 20 and 29, the Minister said.

The Minister said that 31% of school children between the ages of 15 and 19 have been vaccinated.

He said that the Booster vaccine has been introduced to the public and will be given to the front-line personnel including those involved in the health, safety and tourism sectors.

The Minister also said that there is a stock of one million vaccines to launch this program and that the country receives around 400,000 doses of vaccines every week.
