Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, who is on an official visit to Scotland to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference, has held discussions with Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Janet Scotland.
External Affairs Minister Prof. GL Peiris was also present at the discussion.
Ms. Patricia, the first woman to hold the post of Secretary-General of the 6th Commonwealth, commented on the discussion. “It is an honor to meet the President of Sri Lanka Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. At our meeting, we discussed COVID-19, Sri Lanka’s response to healthcare, green and blue economies, and the areas in which the Commonwealth Office can assist Sri Lanka.”
The 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), which began yesterday in Glasgow, Scotland, is scheduled for today (1) and tomorrow (2).
The conference will run until November 12 to discuss climate change and how countries will implement their strategies to tackle the climate crisis.
