SLC first Test Captain Bandula Warnapura has passed away

Bandula Warnapura, captain of Sri Lanka’s first Test cricket team has passed away.

He was 68 years old when he died while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.

Mr. Bandula Warnapura, who represented the Sri Lankan cricket team during the period 1975-1982, was a player who gave a lot of strength to his team in the difficult mission to get the Test opportunity for Sri Lanka.

He was fortunate enough to captain the team in the first Test and captained his team to Sri Lanka’s first ODI victory in the 1979 World Cup.

Being an old boy at Nalanda College, Colombo, Bandula Warnapura also captained the Nalanda Senior Cricket Team.

Bandula Warnapura has played four Tests and 12 ODIs for Sri Lanka.
