According to government sources, the ministerial sub-committee appointed to look into the issue of increasing the salaries of teachers and principals has estimated that it will cost Rs. 33 billion a month to increase the salaries of teachers and principals.

According to the proposal made by the Ministerial Subcommittee, the salary of a teacher will be increased from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 11,500 and the salary of a principal will be increased from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 12,000.

Meanwhile, the Ministerial Sub-Committee has suggested that the salary increase of teachers and principals should be done in several stages.

But the teachers’ unions are demanding that the pay proposal be implemented in one step.
