The daily requirement of oxygen for Covid patients receiving treatment in government hospitals has been significantly reduced, said the Ministry of Health Eliya Rambukwella.

A few weeks ago, Kovid patients who were treated at the hospital needed about 140 tons of oxygen a day, but that number has dropped sharply in the present, the Health Minister said.

Keheliya Rambukwella said that the oxygen level of the patients infected with Covid has decreased due to the non-exacerbation of the disease and the decrease in the number of patients admitted to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the amount of oxygen produced in Sri Lanka is 80 tons per day and if the patients need more than that, the government has taken steps in the past to order from countries such as India, Singapore and China, Mr. Rambukwella said.
